This week I was drawn to work with "The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Cards" by Colette Baron-Reid. This deck seems to combine animal totem cards, tarot, fairies and other oracle cards into one harmonious deck which leads you on a magical journey through the mists of Avalon.
This week appears to be a great week for healing, creating and releasing negative energies and behaviors. We begin the week with "Burden," which gives us the message that it is time to take a look at the burdens in our lives and decide which burdens we really need to be carrying right now. Are we covering for a loved ones bad decisions? Are we enabling someone to continue making unhealthy choices in their life? Are we the eternal mother, hovering over friends and family to ensure they don't get into trouble?
Whatever your reasoning, you are being put on notice that your behavior has become unhealthy on some level. We are all given the task to walk our own path, which sometimes means tripping over hidden roots, stumbling over rocks and sometimes falling flat on your behind due to making the wrong decision. This is part of the process of growth. When you don't allow others to make these kinds of mistakes, you don't allow them to learn and grow so that they don't continue to make the same mistake over and over again.
As we approach the middle of the week, we are given the "Partnership" card, which brings the message that we aren't Superman or Superwoman, able to handle every task in our lives alone. Sometimes, we need the help of others in order to succeed. This help could come from friends, family, children, coworkers, or someone you haven't even met yet. Next time someone extends a helping hand, greatfully accept it instead of brushing it away. You are being reminded that allowing others to help you, even if it's something as simple as allowing them to hold open a door for you, is a sign of strength and character, not one of needieness or weakness.
The end of the week brings us The Spider, the Mistress of Creation, who reminds us that we are not passengers in our lives, along for the ride. Nor are we victims of our lives, destined to suffer at the whims of fate. We are, in fact, co-creators in our lives. If we are unhappy where we are, we have the power to change!

Monday, January 2nd and Tuesday January 3rd: Burden
What burdens are you carrying on this part of the journey? Are you transporting those of others out of generosity or codependency? Is this burden so heavy that it slows you down? This marker asks you to stop and look at your responsibilities, your commitments, and all that you bring with you on your journey.
Are you clinging to an unhealthy relationship out of fear? Are you taking on the burden of others to prevent them from getting hurt? Do you know that this enables others to avoid learning their life lessons and doesn't really help at all?
Drawing this marker encourages you to release others to their own path. It may also be a time for you to ask if you're helping because you like being needed. If the answer is yes, then the message is truly to let go of this burden, for it's born of self-centeredness. Release the burden of others to the Divine. They also have their own angels and guides, just as you do. Trust in the Divine plan for all.
On the sacred path to Avalon, you must be aware that you pack all the essential wisdom tools you will need to chart your course. Integrity, kindness, comassion, discernment, discretion, faith, forgiveness, truth and love are but some of them.
Once your tools are counted, see if the rest of what you're hanging on to is appropriate. This is the time to leave behind any unnecessary burdens and to know you have the strength to carry what is yours.
Wednesday, January 4th and Thursday, January 5th: Partnership
You're put on notice to seek connection to all things. This is the coming together of ideas, the fulfillment of attraction, the marriage between two people and the harmonious blending of energies.
If you're inquiring about a partnership of any kind, this signifies the importance of observing the qualities that this relationship creates as a result of the sum of its parts. There's always much to learn in the chioce of partners.
When you receive the blessing of Partnership on this part of your journey, it's a sign that the object of your inquiry may indeed give you what you need. It's a portent of opportunity, where the partnership exceeds the potential of the individual.
This Sacred Journey Marker reminds you that you're never alone and that there's also always a partnership with the Divine. It's a very auspicious omen.
Friday, January 6th to Sunday, January 8th: The Spider ~ creative projects
The Spider reminds you that you have within you the gift to create meaningful, purposeful work. Within you is an artist waiting to be expressed. Think about this: Do you write in a journal each day? Do you draw, paint, cook or play music? Do you realize that everything you do on a daily basis is an act of co-creation with the Divine?
The Spider signals that it's time to be aware of your repsonsibility for the creations in your life. Maybe you need to rethink an issue and apply your inner artist to find a solution. If you're unhappy with anything, ask yourself, "How can I create a better, more productive and loving experience for myself and others?"
Whether you see yourself as an artist or not, you're always co-creating with the Divine. You are the architect of your own happiness and fulfillment. What life are you building?
Don't just sit there - this is your time to create!
